If you could go back and witness any historical event, which one would you pick?
If I could go back in history and witness one event, I would choose Sojourner Truth‘s speech where she says “Ain’t I a woman.”
She was a slave. She spoke Dutch and English. Her children were stolen from her. She was beaten. Isabella Baumfree given to her by her original owners.
She sued to get her son back. She walked all over preaching. Sojourner supported abolitionists. Of course she was hated by many and loved by many.
I’d want to ask her how she had such deep faith after such a horrendously difficult life, full of pain and sorrow.
